Dear Parents and Carers
As you are all aware, the children of HLC voted for Severn Hospice to be our chosen charity to support throughout this academic year. We are kick-starting our festive activities in school by taking part in Severn Hospice’s Rudolph Relay. We are striving to be as ambitious as ever and as a school, aim to run/walk/dance and prance 100 miles over the course of 5 days. With 3-11 year olds, this is a huge task to take on but we know with the support of each other, we can achieve great things.
Nursery – 1 mile
Reception – 2 miles
Year 1 and 2 – 4 miles
Year 3 – 5 miles
Year 4, 5 and 6 – 6 miles
Pupils will complete their challenge on Friday 8th December, during the school day. We encourage each child to take part and raise as much money as they can with a suggested minimum sponsorship of £2 from family and friends. This is a wonderful opportunity for the children to get active in the run-up to Christmas and understand the importance of community.
Your child will need to bring their PE kit to school, and they can also choose to bring something festive to wear on the day too. Each child will receive a certificate for taking part, a pair of reindeer ears and a sticker acknowledging that they’ve completed the hospice’s Rudolph Relay.
Since 1989, Severn Hospice has provided specialist care and support free of charge to families across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Mid Wales who are living with an incurable illness. We’re delighted to support the hospice and join them in their mission to provide the best care and a better life for people living with an incurable illness and for those important to them.
Your child will be given a paper sponsorship form as a way of collecting donations, but we have also set up our very own JustGiving page to support any online donations. You can visit our fundraising page here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/hlc-primary-phase and we would welcome you to share this with your family and friends too. If your child chooses to get sponsorship by using the paper form, please ensure that all monies are returned to the School Office (in a sealed envelope) by Monday 15 January 2024. We look forward to seeing how much money we can raise for this worthy charity – we have high hopes for over £1000.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for supporting this activity. It’s because we care that Severn Hospice can support patients and their families and friends in our local community.
