In primary, lunch varies each day. Please see the menu for a full break down of meals. We aim to give the children as much choice as possible so there are numerous options available, including:

  • Main hot dinner
  • Halal hot dinner
  • Vegetarian hot dinner
  • Pasta
  • Sandwiches

*Due to children with allergies we have a no nut policy.

Parent Lunches

The parents and children of HLC are always involved in deciding the school menu and have and continue to work closely with Joy to develop this further. Different year groups hold parent lunches throughout the school year. Our parents love coming into school to eat with their children and we love having the opportunity to catch up with them.

Special Days

Special days are a favourite of our children and we have many throughout the year. They are always advertised in school and link with the topics and themes that the children will be celebrating in school.

Lunch Boxes

If your child wishes to bring a packed lunch into school then we urge parents to ensure that it is healthy and meets the recommendations for children’s diets. Fizzy drinks and sweets are discouraged. Fruit is given to the children at break times.

Free School Meals

School meals are offered to all of our Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children. We do expect the children to use this option and have a school meal. As the children leave Year 2, Mrs Petford will contact parents and then there is an option to apply to extend free school meal entitlement into KS2. If you feel like your child, may be entitled to a free school meal, please follow this link to apply.

FREE SCHOOL MEALS

However, once the application is filled in, please allow at least two weeks for Telford and Wrekin to assess the application.

How to Pay for School Lunch

All children at HLC primary are given a pin which is linked to lunch money machines in school. There are 2 cash machines which are located in the Primary Reception area and the Community Reception area.  Both cash machines do not accept 1p or 2p’s. Parents can credit children’s lunch accounts using this pin on a daily basis. Or, alternatively, if you would like to pay for meals in advance. Accounts can be credited in advance. It is the parent/carer’s responsibility to keep the account in credit by £2.30 when ordering a meal in class.

We look forward to continuing to build a positive relationship with customers old and new. Please feel free to contact us at any time via Audra Timmis  u40940@compass-group.co.uk.
