HLC Student Parliament
We have a strong Student Parliament at HLC that represents the pupil voice across school. The members of the Student Parliament, from Y1-Y6 are voted by their peers. The children take their responsibility seriously and listen well to all the children across the school. Their first job at the beginning of the academic year is to decide on the charity that we support throughout the year. They have led many changes over time, including weekly homework, contributing to the behaviour policy, presenting their work to the teaching staff, interviewing for new staff, including taking visitors on a tour of their school. They have created a meal for our school menu and are continually working to reduce plastic rubbish in school and have consulted children about school clubs and rewards. They led on the change of school uniform last year and have already worked with Telford Rotary to plant thousands of crocus on the school grounds to raise awareness of the fight against Polio.
Their plans for this academic year include
- Developing the outdoor play and learning spaces.
- Supporting pupil well-being.
- Feeding back on our new curriculum.
The Student Parliament work with a range of staff across the school and feedback to the leadership team regularly. The Student Parliament led by Mrs Armstrong do a fantastic job and we look forward to working with them to continue to shape our school in the future.
