Mrs. Maddie Griffin, Headteacher

Welcome and thank you for taking the time to visit our school website.

Our community is at the very heart of all we do at the Primary Phase of Hadley Learning Community. Whether you are a parent, carer or child who is already a member of our school community or are considering Hadley Learning Community for your child in the future, we hope you find the information here both interesting and informative. A successful partnership through your child’s education involves close co-operation, support and trust as well as recognising that the best education can only be provided when we have a shared vision and responsibility.

I am exceptionally proud to be the Headteacher of such a diverse and inclusive primary school and regardless of their starting point, we believe in developing the whole child. Our curriculum reflects our values of Belong, Respect, Inspire, Succeed and Enjoy and these are embedded in every aspect of school life. We strongly believe that good outcomes are secured by children having every opportunity to practise their speaking and listening skills and we emphasise that reading is the key to success for our pupils. Our expectation is that pupils read as often as they can and that parents/carers support us with this.

"You are never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child."Dr Seuss

Reflecting the industrial nature, both historical and current, of Hadley is also highly important to us. We heavily invest in our ties with local businesses and pride ourselves on the link to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) within our curriculum. We believe in equipping our pupils with the necessary skills, knowledge and attitude to be able to reach their potential and to enter the workplace.

"Scientists discover the world that is, engineers create a world that never was."Theodore von Karman

About our School

Hadley Learning Community opened in 2006 and is a purpose built Private Finance Initiative (PFI) school in Telford offering enviable facilities, including large playgrounds, a sports field, AstroTurf pitch, a fabulous main hall, dining facilities and superb ICT facilities. We are further improving our forest school area, assisted by strong partnerships with local businesses to promote outdoor learning. We are proud of our reputation within the local community and as a result we are consistently oversubscribed.

Through a process of planned growth, the school currently admits 90 pupils into each year group from Reception to Year 4 with 60 pupils in Year 5-6. Over time, this growth will continue until the school is at its maximum capacity by September 2022.

The facilities within Hadley Learning Community allow for close working between the primary and secondary phases. During Key Stage 2, children become familiar with the Secondary phase building layout and get to know some of the secondary staff who teach them for some lessons. This means that transition from primary to secondary is smooth and the children are well prepared and confident to move to Year 7. The majority of children in Year 6 transfer to Hadley Learning Community Secondary and become excellent buddies for children who are new to Year 7 from other primary schools.

Children enjoy coming to school at Hadley Learning Community and school attendance is consistently good. Staff are vigilant in ensuring children’s health, safety and well-being. The school’s pastoral team stay in close contact with families during any period of absence and can offer wider support to children and families. Children are taught how to keep themselves safe and have strong, trusting relationships with adults in school.
