We celebrated World Book day on Thursday 2nd March.
Everybody came to school dressed as a book character! This included all children and staff too. It was amazing to see such a wide range of characters and the different books that children at HLC like to read.
We had cats in hats, wizards, princesses, queens, mad hatters and lots of animals in all shapes and sizes! The whole school met in the morning for an assembly, and we could play our own game of ‘Where’s Wally!’
Autograph served up a book themed lunch and in the afternoon the children in Year 1 and 2 enjoyed a Mad Hatter Tea party. Children from Year 4 popped in to share their favourite books with the younger children.
In Year 6, the children were challenged to use algebra to work out the reading age of the books in their reading corners! The Early Years were busy on a rotation of different activities, working with children from across the unit.
Children were asked to donate £1. We raised £327 to spend on books for our classrooms.
Taylor Wimpey also gave a kid donation of £100 for us to spend on books too.
Well done to all…looking forward to World Book Day 2018!
