Happy Learning Children at HLC
Working as a team we’re the strongest you have seen,
Happy Learning children at HLC
Our children worked together with Mrs Preece to write our school song, they proudly perform it to visitors whenever they are asked (and sometimes when they are not asked). The words sum up the school’s approach to learning. We ensure that our children have a range of experiences throughout their time in our school which prepare them well for their next steps.
At HLC Primary we believe that children learn best when knowledge is put into a context. Our teachers plan a broad and balanced curriculum which provides lots of opportunities for cross curricular learning and time to apply skills and knowledge in a variety of contexts. We also ensure that all children have the opportunity to take part in a range of experiences across their school career. From performing to an audience to visiting museums life in school is busy and fun.
The curriculum maps below show an outline of the work that will be covered each year and some of the links that are made to other curriculum areas. Some of the trips are mentioned however we always aim to respond to local and national events so this is sometimes flexible.
Through this curriculum we ensure that we teach to the government requirements. All our teaching objectives are linked to the National Curriculum document published by the Department for Education. National Curriculum Primary
