In an increasingly digital age it is important that children know how to keep themselves safe when they are online. Parents often tell us that their children are more confident online and are accessing websites and apps which they are not familiar with. As part of our computing curriculum we teach children about online safety and how to make sure they are using the internet appropriately.
In Key Stage 1 children learn how to:
use technology safely and respectfully, keeping personal information private; identify where to go for help and support when they have concerns about content or contact on the internet or other online technologies.
In Key Stage 2 children learn to:
use technology safely, respectfully and responsibly; recognise acceptable/unacceptable behaviour; identify a range of ways to report concerns about content and contact.
Each year we also have an open afternoon for parents where we share up to date information about apps children in school are currently using. Useful documents and websites are available from this page. If you have any concerns about your child online and would like some help or advice please speak to your child’s class teacher.
