At HLC we value the support of our parents and carers and know that by working as a team we will achieve the best outcomes for our children.
During the year we hold regular parent and carer workshops to help you gain an insight into how we teach different areas of the curriculum. These include phonics workshops, mathematics afternoons, science in the curriculum, the teaching of reading and how spelling punctuation and grammar are taught. Some of these sessions are targeted at specific age groups whilst others are appropriate for all parents and carers. These sessions are interactive and always provide an opportunity for you to speak to your child’s teacher about their individual needs. Teachers are also happy to speak to parents and carers any day after school and will happily give you advice and resources to help you at home. Many of our resources are available in our reception area so pop to Mrs Petford and see if anything we have will help you.
On our website you will find resources linked to reading, writing and maths which may be useful when you are helping your child with homework. We have also created links to some popular websites such as BBC Education and CBeebies where there are lots of activities to support children’s learning. We know that more children have access to a tablet at home now so we may sometimes point you in the direction of apps you may find useful, if you find something great please let your child’s teacher know!
If there is anything further we can do to help you support your child please let us know.
