Dear Parents / Carers,

I would like to start with the most heartfelt thank you to you for all your efforts with supporting our young people in their remote learning. We have had excellent attendance to our KS4 live lessons and beautiful examples of independent work from our KS3 students. We know that this only happens with adult guidance and support, so thank you!

From Monday we are ready to launch our comprehensive remote learning plan to deliver learning for the remainder of the national lockdown. This plan will mean that:

  • Y7-9 students have 2 live Teams lessons, 2 independent study sessions, Form Time, plus a planned physical activity per day.
  • Y10-11 students have (on most days) 3 live Teams lessons, 2 independent sessions, Form Time, plus a planned physical activity per day.
  • Physical activity: All students will have a dedicated session in the day for physical activity because we understand the importance of children continuing to remain fit and active to support their mental and physical wellbeing. This can either be their own exercise or following the challenges set by our PE department.
  • This will be the equivalent of 5 hours of learning per day for all students.

Research suggests that a mixture of live and independent learning is the best way to support your child’s progress.

We are going to be using Teams as a platform to deliver live lessons and share the independent learning tasks because we are aware from feedback this week that navigating through SharePoint is challenging.

We have re-written the school timetable for this period of remote learning, to support your child in managing their work and ensure that we are also looking after their wellbeing.

Please find below your child’s updated timetable and a PowerPoint with audio that explains the remote learning plan and how we are going to support your child in their learning.

If you have any questions regarding any detail included in this plan, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you again for all your help with home learning.

We hope that you are all safe and well.

Yours faithfully,

Mrs C. Bedford
