Dear Parent / Carers,
Following a very successful programme of lateral flow testing in school, we are now ready to move on to home testing. Your child has been fully trained in how to complete their test and will be ready to start testing on Thursday 18th March. Your child will be coming home from school with a home testing kit and a set of full instructions. The instruction booklet is also available in a range of languages – details for how you can access these are provided on the front cover. Included in this letter are a number of links to important websites that you will need.
You may have questions about home testing. Below are some of the commonly asked questions – however if there is anything you are unsure about, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
- When will my child need to complete the home test?
Please complete on a Monday and Thursday morning, 30 minutes before eating. If it is more convenient, you can complete the test on a Sunday and Wednesday evening instead.
- Who should carry out the test?
You child can complete the test unless they are under 12 years old. Children under 12 should be tested by an adult.
- Can anyone in the family use the test kit?
No – only the HLC student assigned the home testing kit can use the tests included. If you need a test, you will need to get in touch with the NHS.
- Who do I report my result to?
You must report your result to the NHS via the link provided. You should also inform the school via the link on the school’s website. You should do as soon as you have received the result of your test.
- If my test is positive – what do I need to do?
You must report your result to the NHS who will guide you through the next steps. You must not come into school if you have had a positive test.
