Both HLC Primary and Secondary schools will be open on Wednesday 13th as normal. Roads and footpaths may still be slippy so please take care. Thank you again for your support.
Welcome to the Secondary Phase.
- We are incredibly proud of our school and the huge impact it has upon our children and families. At HLC, we care for each and every one of our children, we share in their endeavour to fulfil their dreams and ambitions and strive to give each and every student a genuine thirst for learning............. Mr. Paul Roberts, Principal & Headteacher (Secondary) & Mr. Daniel Roycroft, Senior Deputy Headteacher
Since we first opened, our school has blossomed to fulfil that vision and I feel honoured to be a part of the outstanding education and enrichment our amazing students receive every day at HLC. Our success over the last decade has been well documented; there have been many highlights but being nationally recognised as one of the best schools in the country is an achievement that symbolises our amazing journey. In 2013 and 2015, HLC achieved a place in the top 100 schools in the country by the Department for Education. This accolade reflects the outstanding school that HLC has become. Our phenomenal 2016 GCSE exam results have again shown HLC to be one of the leading schools not only in the county, but also in the country. I am delighted to say that all of our Year 11 students have now been able to continue into further education through either traditional sixth form colleges, vocational training and apprenticeships or employment.
To support our drive for student success, our teaching and learning is of the highest quality with Ofsted, during our last inspection, grading over 86% of our lessons as ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’. The high quality of teaching is complemented by a rich curriculum that caters for the children’s individual needs. Student support through a flexible curriculum is further enhanced by highly trained and experienced Learning Support Assistants, who specialise in their support of SEND and Gifted and Talented learners. We are also very fortunate that our disabled students can access the specialist knowledge and facilities of the Bridge School, such as the hydrotherapy pool and multi-sensory rooms.
Children at Hadley Learning Community feel valued and therefore empowered to succeed, both in school and in life beyond the classroom. Our students take great pride in our superb facilities and work harmoniously to maintain the high standards we all expect from them in our building. The accommodation for the Secondary Phase has been designed to create an outstanding learning environment for all areas of the curriculum and to facilitate amazing opportunities for all our students. The superb sports facilities include a large sports hall, swimming pool and fitness suite. The purpose-built theatre and dance studio lead to our Performing Arts students being very successful in a range of local and national competitions. The engineering provision has been designed with stunning facilities to deliver this exciting dimension of the curriculum and provide opportunities for the school to link with local industry, whilst also upholding the heritage of the subject locally. Furthermore, we believe that technology is key to supporting our children and with over 900 computers integrated into teaching spaces and cutting edge software; our students will leave well -prepared for the modern workplace.
To conclude, the Ofsted inspectors said “Nothing is left to chance in this ambitious school, which is led strongly, but with sensitivity”. I believe here they have captured the essence of our school and staff. HLC has become more than just a school; it is the heart of the local community and a beacon of brilliance that is providing a first class education to each and every one of its children.
The children and staff are incredibly proud of our school and if you would like the opportunity to meet our children and staff please contact Miss Veronica Croft on 01952 387010 for a tour.
